For me, the kids are simply enjoying childhood without a care in the world while goodness and mercy are following them around throughout their life. The bright colors evoke joy and happiness. The abstract flowers represent God’s grace and mercy.

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:” is the title of this painting. This individual canvas is framed with a beautiful light blue custom sprayed wood frame. This painting is part of a larger body of work titled “The Hood”. This painting is 4 of 4 but sold individually. The boys shorts and shadows reveal the under layer. When I start a painting I focus on getting rid of the white. By mindlessly painting freely I am able to create an abstract painting. After the abstract painting I sketch my imagery. Once the image is sketched I push and pull on the background until I feel the canvas is complete. I love leaving some areas of the background layer exposed.
