I originally painted this with Christ in the full nude. The painting wasn’t received well due to the nudity so I eventually covered him. I wanted the viewer to feel the full effect of the humiliation he suffered for us.

But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!”
“Forgiven” is about the death of Christ on the cross, beaten and humiliated for MY sins.
